Huntington Learning Center, Washington, D.C. is an independently owned tutoring franchise located at Petworth/Georgia Avenue Metro Station. Its certified tutors provide individualized instruction in reading, phonics, writing, study skills, elementary and middle school math, Algebra through Calculus, Chemistry, and other sciences. It prepares youth for the SAT and ACT, as well as state and standardized exams. Huntington programs develop the skills, confidence, and motivation to help students succeed and meet the needs of Common Core State Standards. Founded in 1977, Huntington’s mission is to give every student the best education possible.Target population includes: (a) Elementary School Students (ages 5-10); Middle School students (ages 11-13); and High School Students (ages 14-18) (b) Middle school is often the right time for students to work with a reading tutor, as high school and college entrance exams such as the ACT and SAT sit just on the horizon. High school students are given their first introduction into the high expectations and demanding academic environment they’ll face once they get to college or enter a career.c) High school courses require students to be able to extract information and deep meaning from texts, whether the author’s symbolism and messaging is stated explicitly or implicitly. Heavy workloads coupled with dense and difficult texts can leave teens struggling to keep up, and a lack of strong reading skills will only make this time more challenging.3) We work with students: 5 hours per day; 7 days per week;Goal #1: Improved Achievement Rate: At Huntington Learning Center, 93-100% of our clients achieve or exceed expectations in reading, writing and math skills. Our students achieve 2 plus grade levels growth in reading and math and other subjectsGoal #2: The Exam Prep students achieve a 4 plus point increase on ACT score each year; and a 200 plus point increase on SAT score.Goal #3: Great report cards. Huntington Learning Center is dedicated to not only meeting, but exceeding today’s top education standards. Corporate level and regional accreditation is a symbol of our organization’s commitment to integrity. Why does accreditation matter to you? Just like you wouldn’t send your child to a non-accredited college, you want to be able to trust that your student’s tutors know what they are doing and are equipped to give the best help possible. Private tutors are not usually certified or accredited, but Huntington tutors are. You can trust that we know what we’re doing and can help your child succeed, just like the thousands of other students we’ve helped before.Goal #4: A history of good success ensuring a brighter future (More “I can” moments since 1977). First in the industry, Huntington has the longest track record of helping students achieve academic success and boost their confidence… we’ve been successfully helping kids learn for nearly four decades. Our mission to give every student the best education possible has been our mantra since the beginning, and we love to see students realize “I can” when it comes to school success. Named after the family that started it all, Huntington continues to be a family-owned company with its executives deeply involved in the day-to-day aspects of the business.III PROGRAM ASSESSMENT20) Program Assessment (see below)• Academic Evaluation: Our proven method begins with a full academic evaluation to pinpoint needs.
